Marshmallow Box (2006)

As a part of learning the key principles of design, one project was to interpret a food type in many different design layouts and formats. One such format was a box, which was to show what the food felt like. No colour was allowed to be used. This box was made to represent the texture of marshmallow: powdery and spongey on the outside, and gooey and squishy on the inside. The outer layer was made using foam covered in plaster, and the inside was made using sponges inserted in the box and then coated with white silicon. Elastic joining the roof and floor of the box further reinforced the idea of gooeyness and added the finishing touch.
