A Changing Face (2009)

“I grew up in Kinglake and Flowerdale. Some of my most precious memories are of riding my horse through the “bean paddock”, skipping to the Hawkin’s dam for a swim after a long day at school, and going on family picnics to the secluded Island Creek. The face of these memories will never be the same.”

This video was filmed six months after the devastating Black Saturday fires. The film sought to explore areas that were once familiar, and now completely defaced. The concept of the video piece was to convey a sense of alienation, longing, and nostalgia to the audience. The film is bittersweet: there is devastation and sadness but a hint of hope and regrowth.
